EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC: THE PLACE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN CHANGING TEACHING FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF EDUCATORS

Laura Joana Papanikolopoulou Arco

Due to the health emergency and the declaration of confinement, for the protection of the population from COVID-19, State educational centers were forced to continue teaching distance learners. In this work, social media were essential for the continuation of learning. The objective of this study is to understand the management skills of students and teachers from the perspective of teachers during the months of confinement. The methodology used is based on data collection through a questionnaire distributed in secondary schools in the provinces of Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia, Álava and Navarra. The questionnaire was distributed electronically, respecting the anonymity of the teaching staff and the center in which they practice. The results reveal that digital media safeguarded the teaching processes of students during the pandemic, but the possibilities they offer are not sufficient to respond to the training and socialization needs in compulsory secondary education on a permanent basis.
