Inequality, and its political, social and economic consequences, continue to have a significant impact in the European Union despite the redistributive policies deployed in recent years. To advance in its reduction and in a more inclusive economy, a new social contract is necessary to create sustainable and quality employment, among other objectives.

CRISIS, TRANSFORMATION AND NEW SOCIAL CONTRACT

For fifteen years the international economy has experienced several major crises. In an environment of radical uncertainty and growing social unrest, some trends of change have emerged in the economic and technological structures that bring with them important advantages but also notable contradictions and risks. Decarbonization, mass digitalization, and a shift in the global economy they are its main faces, painting a panorama of creative destruction on a large scale. This paper argues that in order to deal with these complex dynamics it is essential to move towards a renewal of the social contract, which has been increasingly eroded since 2008.

In times of ecosocial uncertainties, renovations in lifestyle and in the worldwide search for a more friendly future are required. This is the plot of a choral work called SDGs, grandiose in its formulation though complex at many scales; including the educational. Education as a means of building a new social engagement is the argument for those who really boost the SDGs; both from international organizations and from small schools.
